England's national stadium in the capital London will once again crown the winner of the Championship playoffs this year, the third team eligible to compete in the Premier League next season will be among two sides. After exciting matches, the Championship playoff final is set, with Sunderland facing Sheffield United. Sheffield last appeared in the final in 2009, losing 0-1 to Burnley. In 2003, they lost 0-3 to Wolverhampton. With five losses in a row Sunderland somehow managed to qualify for the playoffs, but they didn't really convince either. They've scored a measly five goals in their last eleven matches. A total of 58 goals have been scored, which is certainly not a lot across 46 games excluding the playoff semifinals. With nine away wins, it doesn't seem as if the team is feeling particularly comfortable away from home. Sunderland clearly in better form, as was evident in the semifinals. The Black Cats have been struggling for a few weeks now, barely scoring any goals. The two teams have only met seven times since 2005, so Sheffield's five wins are quite nice. |
